Explanation
Sleep is a physiological behavior that is common in all animal species. As human beings, we spend one third of our lives sleeping.
- Sleep is a state where awareness of environmental stimuli is reduced.
- Sleep is different from states of coma and other states of unconsciousness because:
- Only during sleep does the body actually repair itself
- Unique brain wave patterns and brain activity only occur during sleep
- Unconsciousness brought on through trauma or pharmaceutical drugs is not the same as sleep for the reasons above.
- Sleep is made up of different recurring stages, and is influenced by the internal circadian clock that aligns with normal day/night cycles. With the advent of artificial light sleep timing has been altered in most modern countries.
- The human body has been shown to prefer sleeping at night. Working and wakefulness during the hours of sleep is highly disruptive to health.
- Sleep disorders include:
- Insomnia
- Hypersomnia
- Narcolepsy
- Sleep Apnea
- There are many different underlying reasons why sleep may be disturbed. A thorough decoding process is recommended.
Decoding
You’ve already identified that sleep is imbalanced in some way. Continue to Association.
Association
Ask: Is there an associated imbalance that needs to be decoded?
- If no, move to Intention section, below.
- If yes, return to the home page, decode and address any associated imbalance(s), then return here and repeat the above question.
Intention
Swipe three times with a magnet or your hand on any length of the governing meridian, while holding the intention to reset the sleep cycle/pattern.
