Explanation
The larynx is a cartilaginous structure at the top of the trachea that houses the vocal cords and prevents food from entering the trachea. The front of the trachea is known as the thyroid cartilage, commonly known as the “Adam’s apple,” which is typically larger in men than women. The uppermost part of the larynx is the hyoid bone, which connects to the larynx through various ligaments.
